How does AI scoring really work, and can we see how a score was calculated?
Criteria’s team of I/O psychologists have manually scored thousands of interviews against a behaviorally anchored rating scale (BARS) guide, which is the basis of the logic and how the AI scoring was trained. The AI scoring is equivalent to an expert grader. The scoring logic can be explained and is available upon request.
Does the AI Interview Agent replace the hiring team?
No. The agent runs the structured first conversation. Humans still own the decision. AI and human scores display side by side, with equal visibility into how each was calculated.
Where does interview data go after the conversation ends?
Data is stored in the Criteria platform, and certain ATS integrations also store part of the data such as score and candidate details. All scores are averaged in the overall talent score and can be accessed in the Criteria platform or ATS. AI transcripts, summaries, and insights (where applicable) can be accessed with the evaluation link housed in the Criteria platform.
What controls are in place to keep interviews fair across candidates?
For all our interview formats, there is the ability to create structured interview templates that are based on competencies and behaviorally anchored rating scale (BARS) guides for evaluation consistency and fairness. There is also the option to generate custom questions and evaluation guides. Additionally, for AI scoring, transcripts are the only artifact used for evaluation to ensure bias mitigation and fairness across all candidates.
What does ISO 42001 actually mean for buyers?
