Rule-Following Tests

Why Rule-Following is Important in the Workplace

An important part of managing the health and security of a business is in hiring workers who are comfortable adhering to rules. For example, in manufacturing, rule-following is an essential part of maintaining a safe and productive work environment and reducing the likelihood of workplace accidents. Similarly in retail, companies often seek to reduce the risk that their employees will engage in theft. In general, rule-following is an important trait to identify in jobs where there is an increased risk of counterproductive behaviors, including theft, tardiness, and absenteeism.

The Workplace Productivity Profile (WPP) is a behavioral risk assessment that evaluates a candidate’s reliability and attitudes toward rule-following. Primarily used for entry-level positions, the WPP is used not only to predict performance but also to screen for candidates who may be more likely to engage in counterproductive workplace behaviors.
