Many employers require RNs to have BSN degrees, while others require new RN’s without BSN degrees to complete their BSNs soon after hiring. Following completion of an approved nursing program, all states require registered nurses to become licensed before practicing. While the full requirements vary state by state, all states require registered nurses to pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
